Golden hour - the 45 to 60 minutes before sunset is the ideal window for Destin beach sessions. Because the Gulf faces south in Destin, the light wraps evenly around your subjects rather than coming in harsh from the side, which is why golden hour here looks different from most beaches.
Sunrise sessions are equally beautiful and have the added advantage of an emptier beach and cooler temperatures. Midday is the one time I never shoot, the overhead Florida sun is unflattering for portraits and the sand reflects heat harshly.
