Sessions are available at sunrise or sunset. Most families with young kids love sunset for the warm golden glow; early risers get soft, even light and an almost empty beach at sunrise. Either way, you're going to love how these look.

Miramar Beach sits along the Gulf of Mexico in Walton County, Florida, just minutes east of Destin on Highway 98, known for its wide sugar-white sand, shallow emerald water, and the iconic stilted beach houses that line the shore. It's one of the most beautiful and uncrowded stretches of Florida's Gulf Coast, and one of my favorite places to photograph families.

How far in advance should I book a Miramar Beach session?

At least 4–6 weeks in advance, especially for summer and holiday weekends. June, July, and the week of July 4th fill the fastest. Spring break and fall dates book quickly too, the earlier you reach out, the better your chance of locking in your preferred golden hour slot. I do understand that times get away from us so even a week before your vacation is doable and availability is absolutely possible!
Do you do posed or candid photos at Miramar Beach?

Both — but the goal is always for it to feel natural. I use gentle prompts that feel more like activities than poses: walking together, the kids chasing waves, a family pile-in for a squeeze. Most families say they forgot they were even being photographed. That's exactly what I'm going for.
