What to Expect During Your 30A Beach Photo Session
Booking a beach photo session should feel exciting not stressful, rushed, or awkward. If you’re wondering how everything actually unfolds from the moment you book to the last candid laugh on the shoreline, you’re in the right place.
A Relaxed, Guided 30A Beach Photo Experience From Start to Finish
Here’s exactly what to expect during your 30A beach photo session, step by step so you can show up relaxed, prepared, and ready to enjoy the experience.
After You Book: The Planning Support Begins
Once your session is officially booked, I take care of the logistics so you don’t have to.
Beach Clothing Guide
After booking, you’ll receive my Beach Clothing Guide, designed specifically for beach light, sand tones, and movement. This guide helps you:
Choose colors that photograph beautifully on the beach
Coordinate outfits without being matchy
Avoid common clothing mistakes that distract from the moment
And yes, this isn’t a “figure it out on your own” situation. Clients regularly text me photos of outfit options, and I’m happy to help you decide. Think of me as your photographer and your calm second opinion.
Two Days Before Your Session: Location Details
Two days before your session, you’ll receive an email with the exact beach access location for your shoot. I choose locations carefully based on:
Location you are visiting
Crowd flow
Ease of walking (especially with kids or grandparents)
No guessing. No last-minute scrambling. You’ll know exactly where to go.
The Day Of: A Quick Check-In
On the day of your session, I’ll send a quick text to touch base just to make sure everyone’s feeling good and answer any last-minute questions.
Clients also text me that day if:
A child is having a mood shift
Wind or hair concerns pop up
They need reassurance (totally normal, by the way)
This isn’t a “show up and hope for the best” experience. It’s guided, supportive, and flexible.
Arriving at the Beach: Ease First, Always
When you arrive, we’ll walk down to the beach together…no rushing, no pressure. This time allows everyone to settle in, especially kids who need a moment to take everything in.
Once we reach our spot, the session flows naturally.
How the Session Unfolds
1. Standard Poses & Group Shots
We start with the must-have shots:
Full family groupings
Parent + kids
Siblings together
These are gently guided, quick, and efficient—so we get them done before anyone gets tired or distracted.
2. Candid, Fun, Real Moments
Once the foundation is set, that’s where the magic happens.
I shift into:
Movement
Play
Interaction
Natural connection
This is where laughter shows up. Where kids forget they’re being photographed. Where your images start to feel like you.
Babies & Young Kids: We Follow Their Lead
If you have a baby or a child who needs time to warm up, we adjust—always.
We start with:
Snuggly, close-to-you shots
Gentle movement
Calm, reassuring moments
As comfort builds, we slowly move into more playful interactions. No forcing smiles. No pressure. Just meeting your child where they are.
Parents often tell me afterward that they were surprised by how relaxed their kids felt—and how natural everything seemed.
That’s intentional.
The Overall Vibe
This session is:
Relaxed
Patient
Guided but not rigid
Focused on connection, not perfection
You don’t need to worry about posing, timing, or what your kids are doing. That’s my job. Your job is simply to show up and be present.
Ready When You Are
If you’re planning family photos on 30A and want an experience that feels relaxed, guided, and genuinely enjoyable, I’d love to work with you. From outfit guidance to helping kids warm up naturally, every session is designed to feel easy and authentic.
